Kansas iPod Repair Company Ups Its Green Ante

Kansas iPod Repair Company Ups Its Green Ante

iResQ, the Apple-authorized electronics repair company from the Kansas City area, has increased its environmental-friendliness by finalizing a comprehensive agreement with a local recycling facility. The agreement provides recycling for all its computer, cardboard, and paper waste.

Olathe, KS (PRWEB) February 13, 2009 — iResQ has announced a new partnership with a local recycling facility that specializes in redistributing surplus business goods to nonprofit organizations. Non-usable or otherwise poor electronics are sent to a reclaiming facility. The center counts surplus electronics, business machines, and computers among its tons of e-waste.

iResQ’s enhanced “green quotient” allows the company to continue its long-held tradition of recycling (http://www.iresq.com/recycling). Its existing cooperation with the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) allows it to recycle the thousands of used batteries it receives each month. As a participant in the RBRC “Call2Recycle” program, iResQ separates used batteries from various devices and sends them off so that their primary components can be reclaimed to make new rechargeable batteries and stainless steel products.

“We’re excited to expand our recycling program to encompass all of our waste,” says Brian Buffington, iResQ’s general manager. “We hope to set an example for other companies in the technology field.”

Another way iResQ earns green credentials is by purchasing used, broken, or otherwise unwanted electronic devices from consumers. It refurbishes quality parts of unwanted iPhones, iPods and Apple computers to repair other iPhones, iPods and Apple computers. The rest of the unwanted parts are sent away to be reused or repurposed. More can be read about iResQ’s commitment to purchasing used iPods, iPhones, Mac portables and desktops (http://www.iresq.com/recycling) on the company’s website, where owners can fill out forms to receive sales quotes for buying back used/broken electronics.

About iResQ

Centrally located in Olathe, Kansas, iResQ (http://www.iresq.com/) is an Apple-Authorized Service Provider that repairs Apple computers and portable devices in addition to the Sony PlayStation Portable. Servicing Apple products since 1994, its team of technicians boasts years of experience and multiple Apple Certifications. 24-hr. diagnostics and repair service cover the entire line of iPod, iPhone, Portable Mac, Mac Mini, and Apple TV systems. Valentines’ Day: Even Couples Say “No” In New Everest Poker Survey

Valentines’ Day: Even Couples Say “No” In New Everest Poker Survey

Strange economic times call for strange Valentine’s Day surveys, as European online poker giant Everest Poker took to the streets to see what players were up to this Saturday.

London (PRWEB) February 13, 2009 — February 14th has long been the subject of divided opinion – much like Phil Collins – you either love it or hate it. As one of the busiest online poker nights of the year Everest Poker (www.everestpoker.com) decided to ask their players what they would be up to on the fateful night itself. There were 1,856 replies to their survey and from the replies 1,102 claimed to be single and 754 in a relationship.

For singletons it is a night to stay in to avoid the smooching couples and “smug marrieds”, however, this year apparently is also likely to see couples boycott the increasingly, commercialized ‘night for lovers’.

Whilst many have seen the day as a frivolous bit of fun even the most doe-eyed couples are seeing the day as a commercial rip-off where restaurants try to cram in double or even triple seatings and prepare special “valentines menus”.

Ed Pownall, Everest Poker’s European Press Officer, explains; “Every year February 14th is one of our busiest days for online poker and so we thought we’d try to find out why. It transpires that, in the past, many have booked into their favorite restaurant or, worse, booked a special venue to find that the normal menu has been replaced by a ‘lover’s special’ or similar. To our customers, at least, this is viewed as nothing more than a simplified menu that can be cooked quickly to get couples through the revolving doors.”

Of the 754 couples that replied only 218 claim they will be out on Saturday night and here are some of the best reasons sited;

Marc F, 24, from Toulon, said; “I would rather go out the night before or after to avoid being cramped into a packed restaurant with a restricted menu.”

Johan D, 28, from Barnet, confirms; “Last year we were in and out within 45 minutes – hardly a fun, intimate night out!”

Of those actually going out the typical consensus is summed up by Marten, 41, from Stuttgart; “Like many men I am accused of not taking her out enough and so I feel pretty much obliged to do at least this one evening!”

Acronova’s Entry Level DVD-R Duplication System Now Shipped with TrusCont Copy Protection System

Acronova’s Entry Level DVD-R Duplication System Now Shipped with TrusCont Copy Protection System

Who said DVD-R duplication equipment with an advanced copy protection system should cost a fortune? TrusCont DVD-R Copy Protection system is now available with Acronova’s DupliQ entry level duplication equipment. Anti-Copy, Printing and Copy & Paste rights management, time bombs & access control are some of TrusCont’s copy protection features that are now included with new DupliQ purchases at no additional cost.

Haifa, Israel and Hazlet, NJ (PRWEB) February 13, 2009 — TrusCont Ltd. a leader in copy protection and Digital Rights Management solutions and Acronova Technology Inc. a leading manufacturer of duplication equipment (http://www.truscont.com/?page=38&id=26), announced the release of TrusCont copy protection software for Acronova DupliQ.

Every content owner nowadays knows well the importance of protecting digital content from illegal copying and use. Software, eBooks, training material and virtually any other digital content published around the world is at risk of being pirated. Publishers of commercial content suffer from continued loss of revenues due to illegal copying and distribution of their valuable content.

Many people are still trapped in the false concept that copy protection (http://www.truscont.com/) is an expensive solution meant for large publishers. The combination of TrusCont copy protection and Acronova DupliQ (http://www.truscont.com/?page=38&id=28) is a highly cost effective solution for entry level publishing that could finally put an end to this myth. The DupliQ is the first and the smallest multi-purpose auto-loading solution for CD and DVD burning process. It connects to a PC or laptop via USB 2.0 and is weighing only 10 lbs. TrusCont DVD-R copy protection product is a comprehensive solution for protecting various content types such as software, documents, web pages & other multimedia contents. With TrusCont system a publisher pays just for the number of discs he chooses to protect. No need for buying expensive software or paying setup fees.

“Copy control nowadays is much more than a mean for fighting piracy,” says Eyal Cohen, Chief Executive of TrusCont. Cohen continues, “TrusCont security solutions enable new business models for distributing and selling content such as lease, rent and subscription. Some content owners even use TrusCont for ensuring the relevant and most up to date content is being used at all times by applying time limits that make outdated contents expire automatically.

“The addition of TrusCont copy protection gives our DupliQ customers a much higher value for their money,” says Calvin Liu, Sales Manager at Acronova Technology. “The TrusCont software utilizes the automation capabilities of the DupliQ allowing the users to automatically duplicate numerous discs with the files they wish to publish and the copy protection settings they wish to have” continues Liu.

With the release of the new copy protection solution Acronova and TrusCont have started a new time-limited offer for new DupliQ purchasers. Starting February 10, 2009 all DupliQ purchasers are entitled for 500 free copy protection (http://www.truscont.com/?page=38&id=28) licenses from TrusCont, where each license is useable for protecting one DVD-R disc. Purchasers need to register on TrusCont website in order to apply for the free licenses and download the software.

Thousands of Children Worldwide Send Letters To Tell President Barack Obama “YES WE CAN!”

Thousands of Children Worldwide Send Letters To Tell President Barack Obama “YES WE CAN!”

kidthing® and the National Education Association provide unique opportunity for children to share ideas with President Obama.

Dear Mr. President book available for free on kidthing February 16.

Limited edition copy to be delivered to the White House.

Los Angeles and Washington (Vocus) February 13, 2009 — Finalists were announced today in the first-ever “Dear Mr. President Project” according to kidthing and the National Education Association (NEA). More than 4,500 submissions representing 47 states and three continents were received from children (ages 5 to 12) interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas with newly inaugurated President Barack Obama. kidthing, creators of the first and only digital media player made just for kids who initiated the project, today announced the 150 finalists who will appear in a special digital publication titled, “Dear Mr. President.”

In addition to a free digital copy of the book, which will be available through kidthing beginning President’s Day, Monday, February 16, http://www.kidthing.com/dmp, finalists have the distinction of being included in a special hand-bound limited edition print of “Dear Mr. President,” which will be hand delivered to the White House.

Throughout January, kidthing and NEA engaged children and classrooms around the globe to share their ideas with the new president. “The ‘Dear Mr. President’ project provides an incredible snapshot into the current social narrative of America at this unprecedented time,” said kidthing CEO Larry Hitchcock. “The children conveyed incredible sensitivity and understanding with respect to the difficult tasks and challenges facing this new president. Their letters are poignant, compassionate and direct about what’s on their minds. They shared concerns about the environment, the economy and their hopes for a world in turmoil. I believe President Obama will be proud of their commitment and patriotism and most of all, I believe he will welcome the opportunity to hear their thoughts for our future.”

“The ‘Dear Mr. President’ project has empowered students to be a voice for change in America by writing their own piece of history,” said NEA President Dennis Van Roekel. “We learned about the hopes, the ideas, the dreams and the worries that weigh on the minds of young Americans. By teaming up with kidthing, students not only had a unique opportunity to share with their classmates, but also with the global community and with President Obama.”

Many of the children’s thoughts were accompanied by original artwork. The following are some thoughts they conveyed to the president:

“Dear Mr. President. First I must say that it is an honor to discuss my thoughts with you.” — Alexander, Age 11, Pennsylvania

“My Dad serves in the Air Force as a Tech Sergeant …. He has been deployed a lot…. My dream is to make the war stop. I am tired of my dad being gone all the time. I don’t want anything to happen to him. I hope you will be the best president.” — Lonnie, Age 9-1/2, Japan

“… PLEASE TAKE US OUT OF THE WAR !!! I know I’m probably leaving out some details about why you can’t just stop the war, but if we have to stay in please don’t lie about it.” — Kwesi, Age 10, Ohio

“I think that we just took a big step towards equalness (sic) and fairness. This will help our country to worry about bigger things other than the color of our skin.” — Lauren, Age 12, Ohio

“… On the night of your victory speech, did you look in the eyes of all those people and see those tears streaming down their cheeks? They were not tears of sadness, but tears of joy because they were finally feeling meaningful in this world….” — Avery, Age 10, Pennsylvania

“My Dad is laid off, and we really do not want to move. So can you help Michigan find more jobs? My other idea was maybe we can find away to use garbage to power things; maybe even cars and electricity. So you know I am just a kid, but I am the next generation and my ideas might work. So think about it.” — Zachary, Age 10, Michigan

“Do you and Mrs. Obama get to do anything fun on the weekends?” — Kassandra, Age 11-1/2, California

“Just remember when you feel like quiting (sic), everyone looks up to you.” — Jasmine, Age 11, Nebraska

“Dear Mr. Obama, Please make it rain candy!” — Aaron, California, Age 6

“Dear Mr. President” is the first in a series of ConnectingKids projects from kidthing. These projects are designed to provide creative, collaborative experiences for kids. kidthing will be announcing additional ConnectingKids projects throughout the year. ConnectingKids projects will provide opportunities for children to share their ideas with each other at kidthing.
